She will attend the meeting, which is being hosted by State Rep Daniel Biss.
State Rep. Robyn Gabel will attend a meeting hosted by State Rep. Daniel Biss Monday (Aug. 1) at 7 p.m. in Glenview to address recent ComEd outages. The meeting will be held at the Glenview police station, 2500 East Lake St., Glenview. "As you know, we have seen several destructive storms in the past few weeks and many have lost their power for days on end," wrote Biss on his website. "This is particularly a problem as these power failures have coincided with extremely high temperatures, sometimes over a hundred degrees." Dold, May, Gable and Rotering participate in annual community event.
The more than 1,400 people who walked through Highland Park Sunday at the annual Jewish United Fund’s (JUF) Israel Solidarity Day event were joined by a special group: politicians. Elected officials at the federal, state and local levels participated in the opening ceremonies. Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) delivered the keynote addres, and was joined by state Reps. Karen May (D-Highland Park) and Robyn Gable (D-Evanston) along with Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering. Dold and Rotering walked part of the route together. All four have varying degrees of connection to Israel. Dold returned from a JUF mission two weeks ago with a number of people from the North Shore, including Sandy Perl of Glencoe, who walked with Dold and Rotering. “I…

At Sunday’s League of Women Voters-sponsored forum, state Reps. Daniel Biss, Robyn Gabel and Karen May instilled hope in some residents and infuriated others.
The three state representatives of Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka came before disgruntled residents Sunday to address growing concerns of Illinois’ gaping budget hole. Three local branches of the League of Women Voters – Glencoe, Wilmette, and Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth – hosted the forum, inviting Reps. Daniel Biss (D-17th District), Robyn Gabel (D-18th) and Karen May (D-58th) to New Trier Township High School in Northfield to offer their budget-balancing strategies. “For too long Illinois [has been] financing its growing deficit by accumulating debt,” said Jane Goldenberg, acting co-president of the Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth league, nonpartisan policy-educating organization. “We are among the five states …

After a campaign against a write-in candidate, incumbent will keep seat.
Illinois State Representative Robyn Gabel (D -18th District) will remain in office for her first full term since taking over for former Rep. Julie Hamos. The win wasn't a surprise for Gabel, whose opponent, Steve Funk, was ordered off the ballot for not collecting enough petition signatures. Funk instead ran against Gabel as a write-in candidate. "I will be in Springfield representing the values of this community," Gabel said at the democratic results party in Evanston. "I'll be working on education and working on health care." Gabel said her first priority for her new term will be creating jobs in the state, something she said she is already working on through her role on the bipartisan jobs task force. Gabel has been in office since …
