Driving Complaint Leads to Arrest On May 18, officers received a 911 call from a driver who was being followed by an SUV occupied by two men, according to police. The caller noticed the SUV's license plate number and the vehicle sped onto the Edens Expressway while the caller went to the Northfield police station, according to the report. Officers then found the vehicle and arrested Efrain Cortez, 30, of Chicago for driving without a license, excessive speeding and improper lane usage, police say. The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Property Handed Over On April 30, someone came to the station to turn in a pair of handcuffs that were no longer wanted, according to police. Disturbance On April 30, a naked man was reported running around the big Oaks subdivision, according to police. Officers responded to the scene but no arrests were made. Missing Person Found On May 2, officers responded to the 400 block of Chestnut Street for the report of a missing juvenile, police say. Upon arrival, the officer was told the juvenile was found sleeping in his car outside his work after working an overnight shift, according to police. The officer verified the report and it was checked okay, police say.

Security guards tried to stop the man, but he swung a fist at the security guard's face, trying to strike, but missed. He ran out of the mall, pursued by security guards, and dropped his jacket with the cologne in the parking lot while running. He ran into the front doors of the off-track betting facility located in a mall outlot, and then ran out the back doors near the kitchen. A Lincolnwood man was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after his front license plate fell off when he hit another car.

Bernal, 19, of Lincolnwood with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give information, failure to notify of an accident, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI of drugs, according to police. That day, police received multiple 911 calls reporting a hit and run with an injury near Willow Road and Fox Meadow Fields, according to police. Hit and Run On April 20, a caller reported a Toyota van was driving with two flat front tires and heavy front end damage near Willow Road and Sunset Ridge Road, according to police. The van then pulled over to the shoulder of Willow Road and the driving was seen running from the vehicle, according to reports.
