Northfield Man Charged with Possession of Cannabis, Traffic Arrests

Spiegel, 18, of 22 Long Meadow Rd., Northfield, was issued a local ordinance citation Dec. 23 with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after police responded to an ambulance call on Long Meadow Road. Spiegel was issued a Jan. 11 court date.  Alexis Ramirez, 26, of 2334 W. Diversey Ave., Chicago, was charged with driving with a suspended license, improper U-turn and issued a local ordinance …

Northfield Man Accused of Hazing Surrenders to Authorities

James P. Harvey, a Northern Illinois University student facing hazing charges after the death of a freshman during a fraternity event, is due to appear in court on Dec. 28.

A Northfield man facing hazing charges following the death of David Bogenberger, 19, at a Northern Illinois University fraternity house, has surrendered to Northfield Police.  James P. Harvey, 21, turned himself in on Dec. 19 on a $15,000 warrant out of DeKalb County for hazing not sanction by institution and hazing with bodily harm, police said. Harvey was released after posting $1,500 cash bond, or 10 percent of the bond, and was issued a Dec. 28 court date in DeKalb County, police said.  Harvey, of 1717 Colonial Ln., Northfield, is vice president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity where NIU freshman Bogenberger was found dead on Nov. 2. He was among the five fraternity leaders who were issued a Class 4 felony arrest warrant.  In total, 22 …

Hoard St., Evanston was cited Dec. 14 for driving in the wrong lane, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and driving with a blood alcohol content level greater than .08, following a traffic stop on W. Earlier: Christmas Lights Wire Cut, $200 Stolen, Traffic Arrests Deceptive Practice A resident in the 1800 block of Old Willow Road reported two unauthorized transactions totaling $7,500 on his online banking statement on Nov. 29. The resident notified the bank and they canceled the credit card and credited the resident’s account.  North Shore Vascular Associates, 495 Central Ave., told police someone tried to cash or deposit two unauthorized checks for a total of $5,550 at a bank in Arlington Heights between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 12.
