Patch readers have plenty of opinions about the potential of the North Shore’s first Walmart.
There is no shortage of opinion from Patch readers about the North Shore’s first potential Walmart store on Skokie Valley Road just south of Dundee Road in Northbrook. There has also been a history of retail failure by mass merchandisers in this area dating to the time Sears was the western anchor of Northbrook Court. The location did not last for the company which was then the country’s largest retailer. Earlier: Walmart Seeks Northbrook Location J.C. Penny followed Sears in the location and did not last long. Marshall Field & Co. came next and it or its successor, Macy’s, has been there ever since. Patch wants to know if its readers think Walmart will be successful in the neighborhood.
