Area Coaches Weigh in on IHSA Lacrosse Series Delay

New Trier's lacrosse coach, Tom Herrala, told Patch that IHSA sponsorship is key to the sports growth.

The latest news from the sport of high school lacrosse is—well, no news, at least for the rest of this academic year. On Jan. 10, the board of directors of the Illinois High School Association, which oversees high school sports in the state, delayed the start of the boys and girls lacrosse state series until the 2011-2012 school year at the earliest. He scored 33 points – exactly matching his effort from their game back in December -- and led New Trier to its first conference victory of the new year, 64-56. “We’ve got a kid named Connor Boehm on our team. So if we don’t take advantage of that then I’m not doing my job,” New Trier coach Scott Fricke said. “Going into every game, that is one of our objectives: to get the ball inside to Connor. He’s a horse inside.” The Trevians executed the plan early as Boehm scored New Trier’s first seven points of the ball…
