New Restaurant, Guildhall, Planned for Glencoe This Spring

The restaurant is backed by some big players in the Chicago restaurant scene and will feature 'seasonal American' fare.

Some Glencoe residents and Chicago-area restaurant big wigs are teaming up to open Guildhall in Glencoe this spring, according to Crain's Chicago Business. Alec Litowitz, the founder and CEO of Magnetar Capital, and Eric Fosse, founder and CEO of Homemade Pizza, both Glencoe residents, are working with real estate developer Albert Friedman, to launch the restaurant at 694 Vernon Ave., according to Crain's. Phil Marienthal, who owned Blue Mesa and Canoe Club and Monkey Dish Bar & Grill in Gurnee will manage Guildhall, and Christian Ragano, who has cooked at Tru and NoMI, will serve as executive chef. The 3000 square-foot restaurant is being designed by the same firm that did Girl & the Goat and GT Fish & Oyster, according to Chicago Eater. …

New Eatery Expected on Vernon Avenue in Glencoe

The restaurant is expected to open in February for dinner and Sunday brunch.

An eatery featuring American cuisine is expected to open in February at the former Wienecke Hardware/Active Endeavors space at 694 Vernon Ave., according to Glencoe News.  Spearheaded by Glencoe resident and hedge fund CEO Alec Litowitz the restaurant will feature chef Christian Ragano who has worked at NoMi at Park Hyatt Hotel in Chicago, the newspaper reported. The yet unnamed eatery plans to source locally and organic as much as possible and prices will be “not as highbrow as the Blackhawk, and not lowbrow, either,” Eric Fosse, a partner in the restaurant told Glencoe News.  New businesses that have opened in Glencoe this year include Eclectic Gorgeous Goods at 378 Park Ave.,  Reach Yoga at 688 Vernon Ave., Richard Shay’s Photo Emporium…
