Mayors Against Illegal Guns Airs Super Bowl Ad

Winnetka Village President Jessica Tucker and Northfield Village President Fred Gougler are among the more than 850 mayors in support of keeping illegal guns out of dangerous hands.

  Mayors Against Illegal Guns ran a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl, calling for lawmakers to pass rules requiring background checks on guns. Winnetka Village President Jessica Tucker and Northfield Village President Fred Gougler, both members of Mayor Against Illegal Guns, joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and other Illinois mayors last December to call for stronger gun control regulation after the Newtown tragedy  Mayors Against Illegal Guns is a coalition of more than 850 mayors that advocates for gun control laws. The coalition aims  to protect the rights of Americans to own guns, while fighting to keep criminals from possessing guns illegally, according to the Mayors Against Illegal Guns website. How Can We Each Fight Gun Violence?

Some politicians have shared their ideas of how to curb gun violence. Now we invite you to jump into the discussion and share your thoughts in the comment section.

As Vice President Joe Biden prepares to meet with the National Rifle Association and other gun-ownership groups for talks at the White House Thursday, many politicians have voiced what they think should be done to curb gun violence.  Among those politicians are several North Shore village mayors and presidents who recently joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to call for stronger gun regulation as part of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a coalition aimed at cracking down on illegal guns.
