Winnetka Resident, Illinois Tools Works CEO Dies at 61

David Speer, a Glenview business owner, passed away on Saturday, November 17.

David B. Speer, 61, passed away on Saturday after batting cancer, according to Glenview.Suntimes.com.  The longtime chairman and CEO of Illinois Tool Works Inc. has been on medical leave from the Glenview-based industrial equipment maker since October, Chicago Tribune reported.  Speer was replaced by E. Scott Santi as CEO, and Robert Morrison as nonexecutive board chairman, according to the News Gazette.  The Winnetka resident joined ITW in 1978 and was elected CEO in 2005. A year later Speer became board chairman, The News-Gazette reported.  ITW stock outperformed the broader market while Speer served as CEO, during that time the company’s revenue also grew about 40 percent, to about $18.2 billion, Crain’s Chicago Business reported.  Born…

Obituary: Marc Cardoza

The former Winnetkan passed away at 43 years old.

Marc Cardoza, 43, of Winnetka, passed away on November 11. Marc leaves behind his best friend and adoring wife Virginia, his much loved children Jack and Caroline, his parents Jack and Karen Cardoza and his brother John (Debbe), his in-laws, Philip and Donna Stockton, his grandparents Jack and Eleanor Cardoza and Betty Mason, brother in-law John Stockton, niece and nephews Anya, Graham and Lucas; and many cousins. Marc was a graduate of Glenbrook South High School and North Park College. Marc had a successful career at the Board of Trade working side by side with his father, which allowed him to take an early retirement that he enjoyed thoroughly spending time with his family at their homes in Michigan and Hubbard Woods. Obituary: Agnes M. Busscher

The former Winnetkan passed away at 85-years-old.

February 14, 1927 – September 13, 2012  Agnes M. Busscher, 85, formerly of Winnetka, passed away on Septemeber 13 at the Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA.  Agnes was born February 14, 1927 in Niles, Ill. to the late Peter J. and Appolonia (Dahm) Schuetz. On May 21st, 1949, she married John (Jack) F. Busscher, Jr. at St. Mary’s Church in Buffalo Grove. Agnes, better known as NANA, was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is survived by her husband, a daughter Kathy (Tommy) Kizer, three sons, John (Lynda) Busscher, Don (Wanda) Busscher and Patrick (Linda) Busscher; five grandchildren, John, Peter, Nicole, Patrick and Matthew; and great grandchildren Jackson and Eli.
