Glencoe Trustees: No Fence for Dell Place, South Avenue Fence Remains

Opponents of a fence on Glencoe’s Dell Place street ends got a big victory Thursday as Glencoe trustees voted 6-1 to not put a barrier at the street end near the beach.  All trustees, except Trustee Joe Keefe, chose to accept the recommendation of the Street Ends Task Force that putting up a fence at Dell Place street end would raise public safety concerns among others. Trustees, however, did not rule out that a fence may be needed at Dell Place in the future.  “If you put that fence up the only people that are going to go around that fence are the people we don’t want down there and you are going to make it harder for public safety to get down there when they want to get down there because they are not going to jump or climb the fence,” …
