Winnetka Police Blotter: New Trier Students Arrested for Criminal Damage

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Feb. 1 Theft - A student reported on Jan. 30 between 3:15 and 5:00 p.m., that an unknown offender removed several items, including an iPhone 4S and a sweatshirt, from an unsecured locker in the boy’s gym locker room at New Trier High School's Winnetka campus.  Last week: Winnetka Police Blotter: Cannabis Activity at New Trier High School Jan. 30 Identity theft - A victim discovered some of their personal checks from Merrill Lynch Bank of America may have been stolen out of outgoing mail at an unknown location. This occurred sometime on Dec. 19. These checks were then altered and fraudulently cashed, in the total amount of $12,610.42. Winnetka Police Blotter: Stolen Parking Permit, Damages Vehicle Window

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Jan. 29 Traffic arrest - A 38-year-old man from Rolling Meadows, was arrested for driving without a valid drivers license. Police also cited him for no rear registration light. This arrest was made subsequent to a traffic stop on the 100 block of Green Bay Road.  His court date is scheduled for March 15. Burglary to a motor vehicle - A victim discovered sometime between Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 that an unknown subject removed his village parking permit from his vehicle while it was parked unattended on the 1300 block of Willow Road. Winnetka Police Blotter: Two Burglaries Reported Without Stolen Property

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Last week: Winnetka Police Blotter: 18-year-old Arrested for Domestic Battery Nov. 27 Burglary - Officers were dispatched to respond to a burglar alarm at a residence on the 500 block of Elm Street. Upon arriving, officers discovered a damaged door open. The glass window to the door was shattered. Several drawers were found rummaged through in the home. However, no property is reported missing at this time. -- Officers were dispatched to respond to a burglar alarm at a residence on the 200 block of Winnetka Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front door of the residence forced open by an unknown offender. Winnetka Police Blotter: 18-year-old Arrested for Domestic Battery

Last week's blotter: Woman Arrested for Possession of Hypodermic Syringe Nov. 18 Theft - A victim discovered an unknown subject removed $700 from his wallet sometime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 18. Traffic arrest - A 42-year-old woman of Glencoe, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was also cited for improper lane usage. The driver was arrested after an investigation of a reported traffic crash at the intersection of Gordan Terrace and Tower Road. Her court date is scheduled for Dec. 28. Domestic battery - An 18-year-old resident of  Winnetka was arrested for domestic battery. This arrest was the result of an investigation into a 9-1-1 call for a disturbance. Winnetka Police Blotter: Juvenile Criminal Damage, Social Security Theft

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. October 16 Criminal damage – A man discovered the rear window of his vehicle was damaged while parked in his driveway on the 1200 block of Westmoor Road. The damage occurred sometime between 4 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 9 a.m. on Oct. 16. Battery – Peter J. Elsen, 30, of Buffalo Grove, was arrested for battery after a Metra train conductor reported he was pushed by Elsen when exiting the train. Elsen left the area and was later located by an officer and taken into custody. His court date is scheduled …

Sept. 17 Criminal damage – A citizen reported damage to the inner glass door on the east side of 566 Lincoln Ave. Officials do not know what was caused the damage, which occurred during the early morning hours. The building manager was notified and responded to the damage. --- An officer discovered graffiti on the south wall of the train station at 100 Northwestern Dr. The Public Works Department was notified to start the removal process. Oct. 31 Criminal Damage: A vehicle parked on roadway in the 200 block of Chestnut St. due to construction was damaged when unknown offenders took a traffic barricade from the construction site and threw it through the rear hatch window of the vehicle.
