Dear Readers, More than once this week, I've told someone -- a source, a friend, another Patch editor, my mom -- that I love my job. That's a really good feeling and I hope at least most of you know what I'm talking about. What I love about being a reporter is the fact that when I wake up every morning, I have no idea what's ahead of me. My job is to learn and write everyday about your villages, your lives and your stories. One thing you might not know about my job is that I am a member of your community, and Patch wants it to be that way. Early tomorrow morning, people from all over Chicagoland and beyond are expected to line up for Christ Church's 86th Annual Rummage Sale. The rummage sale is one of the largest and oldest in the country, and last year, the sale grossed more than $225,000. The church awards the net proceeds to various Chicago-area organizations. What also makes this rummage sale famous, and the reason why so many people flock to it, is how big it is. The parish house and surrounding areas are divided into departments sell all kinds of items, from childrens' toys to kitchen appliances, to dishware and the French Room's designer clothing.
