Cary Three Injured in Blaze at Industrial Building in Cary Three workers were injured in an explosion and fire at Fox Valley Systems in Cary on Wednesday. Nearby buildings had to be evacuated due to the paint and chemicals contained in the building, officials said. Two people injured in the explosion have been transferred to the burn unit at Loyola Hospital and the third victim was sent to the St. Anthony Hospital Burn Unit in Rockford, according to Cary Fire Lt. Andy Veath. Investigators from the Cary Fire Protection District, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Illinois State Fire Marshals are still investigating what caused the two explosions and the subsequent fire. Driving With a Suspended Driver's License, Speeding Margarita Garcia, 48, of Chicago is being charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and speeding, according to Winnetka Police reports. The incident occurred on Jan. 22 in the 900 block of Sheridan Road. Garcia's court date is set for Feb. 7. Driving With a Suspended Driver's License Aurora Pecache-Ulit, 58, of Chicago is being charged with driving with a suspended driver's license, according to Winnetka Police reports. The report states that she's also being cited for driving with suspended registration and using a handheld cell phone while driving. Pecache-Ulit's court date is set for March 7. From a very drunk man behind the wheel to a wanted man caught in Northfield, these are the most interesting police reports from last week.
Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 8:29 a.m. Employees at Teddie Kossof Salon and Spa on Waukegan Road called police Wednesday morning after an odd customer continued to call the business. The police report indicates that the client was harassing the salon workers repeatedly on the phone, so police intervened and solved the issue. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 8:21 p.m. Northfield police pulled over 49-year-old Mario Ruiz-Serna Wednesday night for a traffic error, but said they soon found out he was heavily under the influence of alcohol. According to the report, the Beach Park resident made an illegal turn into a one-way alley near Central Avenue and Ash Street prompting police to move in. April 5 Found item: A man found a wallet near Dominick's and dropped it off at the police station. Officers contacted the owner, a 20-year-old Northfield man, and returned it to him, along with a local ordinance citation for having an false Kentucky driver's license (making him a year older than he is) as well as an Illinois license belonging to another man. He said the other license belonged to his uncle, but police confiscated both and mailed them back to their respective states. His court date is May 23. April 13 Theft: Sometime between April 9 and April 13, someone tore open a greeting card that was in a mailbox in the 300 block of Wagner Road and removed a $100 gift card from the recipient's sister. April 7 Balloon Battery: Three juveniles hit a person with a water balloon while the victim was riding his/her bike on Green Bay Trail about 6:30 p.m. Police found the three juveniles, who matched the victim's description, near the area. They admitted to throwing the balloons, but the victim chose not to pursue any charges. April 2 Assist Outside Law Enforcement Agency: During a traffic stop, police discovered that a 29-year-old man from Milwaukee, Wis. had an in-state warrant from the Cook County Sheriff's Police at 4:35 a.m. in the 300 block of Green Bay Road. He could not post bond and was transferred to court. April 3 Criminal Defacement: An employee at 510 Green Bay Rd., where Village of Winnetka is located, reported that the side wall of the administrative trailer had been defaced between March 30 and April 2. March 9 Theft: Dominick's employees allegedly discovered missing liquor when they went through their inventory in the morning. Upon reviewing the security footage from March 8, they saw unknown individuals steal 16 bottles of alcohol, including Grey Goose and Hennessy, police said. The total damages came to $684.84. The case is still under investigation.
