Gabel Re-Elected, Defeats Lieberman in 18th State House District

Incumbent Robyn Gabel will serve a second term.

FINAL UPDATE AT 11:10 p.m.: With 82 of 84 precincts reporting and Robyn Gabel still holding a sizable lead, Eric Lieberman has conceded the race. Gabel could not be reached for comment at the time of publication, as she left her own Evanston-based election party to join President Barack Obama's supporters at McCormick Place in Chicago. Gabel's campaign manager, Josh Kilroy, said that Gabel and the campaign staff had worked hard to connect with the district's new voters. “We worked very hard to reach out to all the voters," Kilroy said, "about 30 to 35 percent of whom were new to the district. Illinois House Candidates Vie for Votes During Public Forum

Democratic and Republican candidates for six House districts introduced constituents to their background and platforms.

About 800 people filled Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim for Monday night's North Shore Jewish Community Candidate forum. Candidates from six house races discussed their values and qualifications during brief, informal introductions. Highlights from the forum are listed below.
