Winnetka Village Hall sits in the center of Winnetka life -- across from the Metra station and in the midst of the…More downtown business district. The building itself is a Winnetka landmark. Housed in Village Hall are the offices of the village cashier, utility billing, and the community development department, zoning board and plan committee. The Village Council chambers, administration offices, city attorney, human resources department, clerk and voter registration offices are located on the second floor.
Before the current building was constructed, the Village Council was housed in Academy Hall from 1899-1925. After that, the Winnetka Fire Department was located in Academy Hall before a new facility was built on the site in 1968.
With an owner who has lived in Winnetka since 1972, and who serves on the chamber of commerce board, the Village Toy…More Shop is a place that has its community in mind. A mom-and-pop store, it has toys, games, puzzles and more for kids of up to about 10 years of age. The personal attention employees give to their customers sets it apart from from larger toy stores.
