The Northfield Fire-Rescue Department began with 20 volunteer firefighters more than 70 years ago. Now, it has more then 50 part-time staff. The department responds to the Village of Northfield, in a 3-mile radius, and is part of the MABAS Division III network with other north suburban departments. The department offers free blood pressure screening and other educational opportunities to the community.
