Late Rabbi William Frankel founded Am Yisrael Congregation more than 40 years ago to bring the liberal voice to the conservative movement. The current rabbi is Debra Newman Kamin. The congregation's aim is to stimulate a love of the Torah, observance and spiritual growth, upkeep an egalitarian and joyful atmosphere that is neither pretentious or exclusive. It has a women's league, Hazak and youth groups, and the religious institution supports Israel.
