Register Now for These Upcoming Winter Break Events

Holiday Camp

Home for the holidays? Add some fun to your 4 – 10 years olds winter break at Holiday Camp being held December 26, 27, 30, 31, January 2 and 3 from 9:15 am – 12:15 pm at Skokie School. Kids will participate in entertaining activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, and much more! In addition, each Friday campers will venture (weather permitting) over to the Winnetka Ice Arena for a morning of skating instruction and games on ice. Double up with a free afternoon session of Open Gym (12:30-2::30 pm) to round out an enjoyable day with the Park District. Staff will stay with children who will be attending Open Gym immediately following Holiday Camp. Be sure to bring a snack and a lunch.  Fee is $90 for residents and $120 for non residents.  Advanced registration is required through the Winnetka Park District, 540 Hibbard Road or online at www.winpark.org using activity # 441500. Want to keep your child’s game fresh during Winter Break? Sign up for our Winnetka Park District basketball camp. This 2 hour class for 8 – 12 year olds will keep participants on the top of their game. Instructors will focus on the fundamentals through intensive drills and games. Participants should be ready for a fun, yet hard workout.

Camp meets from 4:00-6:00 pm at Washburne School Gym, December 26, 27, 30, 31, January 2 and 3. Advanced registration is required by December  22 through the Winnetka Park District, 540 Hibbard Road or online at www.winpark.org using activity # 441720. Intro to Hiking & Backpacking Winter Nature Workshop

This winter nature clinic will introduce would-be hikers and backpackers ages 6.5 to 11 the basics of hiking and backpacking. Topics covered will include recommended supplies, tips for packing properly, and safety tips when planning hikes. Try Hockey For Free!

The Winnetka Ice Arena will be offering a Try Hockey for free program on Monday, December 23 from 9:30-10:30 am. Advanced registration is required. For more information contact the Winnetka Ice Arena at 847-501-2060.

FREE! Winter Break Learn 2 Skate

If you’ve thought of taking advantage of the wonderful, winter sport of ice skating, this is the opportunity for you! The Winnetka Ice Arena is offering FREE skating lessons on Thursday, December 26 from 11:15-11:45 am designed for adults and children (4 and over) who have never had lessons before. Learn a few basic skills and safety tips to get you started. 

Please register in advance as space may be limited. The lesson includes rental skates and free public skating until 12:15 pm. Skaters will be divided by age. It is recommended that all skaters wear either a helmet or thick winter hat, gloves or mittens and figure skates. For further information contact the ice arena office at (847) 501-2060.
