Hubbard Woods Park Upcoming Master Plan Meetings

The Winnetka Park District is in the investigative stages of developing a conceptual land use plan (Master Plan) for Hubbard Woods Park. Our first initiative is to conduct public meetings with the residents and local businesses near Hubbard Woods Park. Since the time our initiative began in early October, the board of the Winnetka Park District has hired the land planning firm The Lakota Group. The meetings scheduled below will discuss comments and input to date. When complete, all information gathered will be forwarded to Lakota for development of the first conceptual drawings for public consideration. The continuing development of master plan concepts and land use designs will focus on and include:

  • Conceptual development of the entire park site with resident and local business input.
  • Interface the park design with Village master plans for the Hubbard Woods business district.
  • Evaluate current and future programming potential.
  • Development of a local destination for shoppers and visitors to increase foot traffic among local businesses.
  • Meet compliance requirements for ADA and CPSC (Consumer Products Safety Commission).
  • Meet compliance with BOCA code (Building Officials & Code Administration).
  • Assess potential public and private partnership initiatives.

Our next two neighbor meetings have been planned for Saturday, November 16, 9:00 am and Wednesday, November 20, 6:30 pm at the Winnetka Park District Community Room, 540 Hibbard Road. The format at these meetings will be identical.

If you will be unable to attend either meeting but have questions or comments please contact Robert Smith at (847) 501-2052 or rsmith@winpark.org.
