Mosquito Control Operations Begin Monday

Patriot Day Flag Planting: Since 2008, Winnetka residents have participated in a Patriot Day flag planting. Community members are invited to gather on Sept. 10 to plant 2, 977 flags on the Cenotaph on the Village Green, in memory of each person killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The flags will be planted on Tues. at 4 p.m., and will be removed at dusk on Sept. 11. Interested participants should meet at the Village Green. Flags will be provided. Mosquito Control Operations to Begin Monday: The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District will conduct targeted adult mosquito control operations across parts of Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka on Monday between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., weather permitting. BrushBot Battle: Join the Winnetka Library for a BrushBot Battle! The event is open to students between grades 5 and 12. Students will build a mini robot and then see how it competes in the arena. Registration is required here. The event will be held on Sept. 11 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. 

Susan Branch at the Winnetka Book Stall: The Book Stall and the Winnetka Women's Exchange are teaming up to bring best-selling author Susan Branch, who wrote Heart of the Home lifestyle books, to the Westmoreland Country Club.
