Glencoe Sidewalk Sale Kicks off Friday

Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring event downtown at Park and Vernon Avenues; 50 businesses will be showcasing their wares at discount prices.

Downtown Glencoe will host the Chamber of Commerce Sidewalk Sale at Park and Venon Avenues this Friday and Saturday. 

Up to 50 vendors will be be showcasing their wares at very attractive prices, according to Sally Sprowl, Glencoe Chamber executive director. 

Items for sale will include children and adult clothing, jewelry, beauty products, home decor accessories, stationary and a number of wines to choose from.

Photographs will be taken for use as business promotion, in addition to an offer of lessons in photography.

There also will be a wide selection of items for children, including Beanie Babies, toys, games, puzzles and books.

Popcorn and snow cones will be free at the event for children and adults alike. 

"This is a great event to bring our business community and the community at-large together while enjoying the summer," Sprowl said. 

Over the last several years, Sprowl said, business participation and attendance by the community has continued to grow. 

Parking will be free after 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 and all day on Saturday, July 30 in the commuter lots.

The event will be held on both days from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.  

The Farmers Market will also be held nearby in the Metra Commuter lot at northeast corner of Green Bay Road and Park Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
