Glencoe Farmer's Market Offers Wide Variety

Fruits and vegetables, and other goodies like fresh-baked bread and ciabatta, refreshing smoothies, coffees and chai tea all at the Metra parking lot from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Farmer's Market in Glencoe is a long-standing tradition, which recently underwent a transformation, according to Sally Sprowl, Glencoe Chamber of Commerce executive director.

"We wanted to grow the market so we moved it to Green Bay Road and Park Avene at the Metra Station [parking lot] to increase space for our vendors and visibility for people driving past to entice them in," Sprowl said.

Along with the change of locale, the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce also engaged Lydia and Edward Davis, a mother and son marketing team, to bring in more vendors and increase the market's offerings.

"We are working to continue growing the market; we have some of the old favorites and newcomers this year," Lydia Davis said. "There is lots of parking space available which makes it more convenient for people to drop by."

The traditional fruits, vegetables and flowers are available at the market, in addition to other interesting and different selections.
