Two men from complete opposite ends of the age spectrum placed either first or second in their age brackets at the 30th annual Life Time Tri Chicago, and both are members of the community.
Winnetka’s Francisco Gutierrez placed second in the 70-to 74-years-old age bracket for the International distance, a race consisting of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometerbike and a 10-kilometer run.
In addition, Jack Litowitz of Glencoe placed first in the 19-years-old and younger bracket for the Sprint distance. That race consists of a .75-kilometer swim, a 22-kilometer bike and a 5-kilometer run.
More than 10,000 people raced in the Life Time Tri Chicago, making it America’s largest triathlon. The annual race brought together amateur and professional athletes on Sunday with top contenders in 11 age groups.
