Football improves to 2-0 while golf garners another two dual match victories.

FOOTBALL -  exorcised some ghosts from seasons past when it blew out Alden-Hebron 41-21 on Sept. 2, the team’s first win against the Giants since 2001.

The Raiders didn’t waste much time in putting up points, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter and putting up another 28 points before halftime. The last score came with just five seconds to go in the half.

North Shore moved to 2-0 on the season and is tied for the Northeastern Athletic Conference lead with Mooseheart and CICS Longwood Academy. The Raiders made their debut in and are ranked No. 3 in the latest poll, behind Class 8A powerhouses Maine South and Loyola Academy.

The Raiders travel to Rockford Christian on Sept. 9 for a pivotal conference game.

GOLF - North Shore went undefeated in its two dual matches last week, defeating Morgan Park 146-204, and Elgin Academy 155-186. Nick McCall’s 33 against Morgan Park earned him medalist honors while juniors Andrew Bedford and David Blechman both shot 37s.

Blechman would take medalist honors with a low score of 37 against Elgin Academy while Bedford came in at 38 and McCall fired a 39.

At the junior varsity level, sophomore Jack Valenti made a hole-in-one on the par-3 ninth hole. It was the first hole-in-one in the team's history and the first on the Wing Park course in Elgin this season.

SOCCER - North Shore split its two games at home last week, defeating Chicagoland Jewish High School 4-0, but falling to Christian Liberty Academy 5-2.

VOLLEYBALL - The Raiders lost their first game of the volleyball season, falling to Chicagoland Jewish High School 25-14, 23-25, 25-17.

But North Shore rebounded a day later to defeat Westlake Christian 25-16, 25-17. Junior Paige Jendrisak had seven kills for the Raiders while senior Katherine Simmons dished out 15 assists.

On Aug. 30, North Shore girls volleyball opened its season against Chicagoland Jewish High School and lost 14-25, 25-23, 17-25.

TENNIS - North Shore lost its only dual match against Niles North 5-1. Junior Annie Morris got the Raiders’ only victory with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win in her singles match.
