North Shore Congregation Israel Hosts JUF Event Featuring Pro Basketball Player Tamir Goodman
North Shore Congregation Israel hosts an event supporting the 2012 Jewish United Fund-Israel Emergency Fund.
The event will feature basketball star Tamir Goodman. He first gained notoriety as the kippah-wearing standout at Townson University in Maryland. Dubbed by Sports Illustrated as the “Jewish Jordan,” Goodman played six professional seasons in Israel for some of the most competitive teams. As a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, he was awarded the “Outstanding Soldier Award” for his service specializing in armored personnel carriers. His story received world-wide media coverage and he has been featured on Fox News, ESPN, CNN, ABC and more.
The event is co-chaired by Jackie, Jason, Zachary, Aaron and Julia Peltz of Glencoe.
