Winnetka's School Enrollment Declines While Wilmette's is Fairly Stable

Winnetka's Public School District 36 could be down by 117 students.

Both Wilmette and Winnetka are projecting declines in student enrollment for the coming school year--Wilmette Public Schools District 39 could be down some 65 kindergarten students and Winnetka’s Public School District 36 could be down by 117 studentsChicago Tribune reports.

While District 36 expects to make up the decline in enrollment in the next two months, there is a downward trend that’s leading to tough financial questions, there's some $6,000 difference between the two district’s per-pupil spending--Winnetka spent $19,662 per pupil compared to Wilmette’s $13,606, based on 2012 school finance data, the newspaper reported.
