Sunset Ridge School teachers Michele Widdes and Linda Polak were chosen from more than 300 others to take part in a teacher institute offered by the Library of Congress.

Among 300 other applicants, Northfield Sunset Ridge School teachers Michele Widdes and Linda Polak were selectively chosen to participate in the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Summer Teacher Institute.

The five day program for K-12 educators will be held July 16-20, in Washington D.C., according to a news release from the Library of Congress.

Those who take part in the program work with library education specialists that help to enhance classroom teaching and allow exposure to historical documents and artifacts housed at the Library of Congress, the release says.

Participants, who are library media specialists, school administrators and classroom teachers, also are taught how to better engage students and help them think more critically in the ways they learn and process information.
