New Trier Loses First Football Game of the Year to Schaumburg

NTHS lost the first game 34-20 at Saturday night's game.

Despite a valiant effort, the New Trier High School football team lost their first game of the year to Schaumburg, in a 34-20 game, according to High School Cube News. The game was held at NTHS in Northfield. Schaumburg scored five rushing touchdowns, while New Trier players from a variety of injuries — starting left tackle Rijad Pekmez received a knee injury in the first quarter, while starting quarterback Frank Nicholas and wide receiver Spencer Cotten were both injured as well. 

"We did a lot of good things, especially in the first half," New Trier coach Dan Starkey told High School Cube. "Unfortunately, we gave up big plays all day. We didn't tackle real well and we didn't handle their speed real well." 

New Trier's next game is set for Friday versus Warren High School in Warren.
