New Trier Faculty Contract Still in Negotiations

The Faculty and the Board have scheduled two additional meetings to discuss the contract. They have met three times since the mediation began in early August.

The New Trier Faculty Association and the Board of Education are still in negotiations concerning a new faculty contract. The previous contract expired on August 21. Both sides entered mediation in early August after failing to reach an agreement on their own.

A statement read by the Board of Education at their August meeting said that the Board and the Faculty Association have met three times so far, and additional meetings have been scheduled for Sept. 3 and Sept. 12.

"The Board and the Faculty Association are committed to working hard and in good faith to reach an agreement as soon as possible," a joint statement read at the meeting stated. "Both the Board and faculty representatives have agreed to keep the content of our discussions confidential as we focus on reaching an agreement."

The previous contract included a 3.5 percent increase in teachers' salaries for the 2011-12 and the 2012-13 school years.
