New Trier Building Design Takes Shape

The board has until August to place a referendum on the November ballot to fund the new construction.

New Trier board members saw the latest design plans for proposed new construction on the Winnetka campus at a meeting this week, according to an article in the Glencoe News.

The designs, shown above, incorporate changes that school officials had asked for, including reducing the size of the glassed-in entrance, keeping the building’s footprint more in line with the current structure, and creating accessible roof decks with green space.

The new designs also include showcasing part of the historic building façade within a glassed-in entry area, according to the presentation the board saw Monday from architects Wight & Company. There are skylights into the third floor classrooms and a smaller front lawn, which allows for larger athletic fields across the street.

The board hopes to put the proposal to voters in November, which requires taking action by August. Officials have pledged to keep the total price tag under $100 million.

The board plans to use $11 million in district reserves, the Glencoe News story says.
