Marie Murphy Takes Second in Science Olympiad Nationals

Marie Murphy took 11 medals out of 23 possible—the highest in the schools history.

For the second year in a row Marie Murphy won second place in the National Science Olympiad Tournament.

The school won 11 medals out of 23 possible, the highest in Marie Murphy's history, at the event hosted on May 19 in Florida, according to a press release from Avoca School District 37. Approximately 60 teams competed in the tournament.

"No secondary or middle school team in Illinois aside from Marie Murphy has ever placed so high in the National Tournament." the press release states.

  • 2nd Place

    Food Science – Regina Madanguit & Clara Yam

  • 3rd  Place
    Dynamic Planet – Katherine Ho & Michael Rivkin

The youth hail from the towns of Glenview, Wilmette, Winnetka and Northfield.
