Choral Symphonies

Discover life after 50 as Chicago-OASIS kicks off its winter trimester with a two-session program by Professor Michael Vaughn.

Inspired by Beethoven's 9th, a number of composers, including Berlioz, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Mahler, and Shostakovich penned their own choral symphonies. This unique form, combining the orchestra and chorus, also weds text to music in a particularly colorful, dramatic manner. Through listening and lecture we will explore this interesting genre.

Note:  Membership to OASIS is free.  Classes are fee-based and a trimester fee may also be charged. Registration is required in advance.
