Seniors, it's time to organize!

It’s senior year and you have thought a lot about colleges.  Now it’s time to refine your list and get moving.  Most students apply to 6-10 colleges, so the better organized you are, the less stressful this process will be.  Keep researching, visit, meet with the rep when he/she comes to your high school, and ask a lot of questions.  Set aside specific times to work on your applications.

Here are a few tools you should set up for yourself:

·      Have a separate email address just for college communications.  (Make sure it has a “professional” sound…. we suggest using your name and not something like acceptmeIamgreat@gmail.)

·      A calendar to keep track of deadlines

·      A folder on your computer or a binder to keep your application information together in one place

·      A list of important information:

o   All passwords

o   College representative email and phone numbers (or put them in your phone).  When the question is yours, make sure you and not your parents make that call/contact.

You may think that you will remember everything that happens in this process, but as in life, mistakes can happen.  Read instructions carefully and don’t ignore something you don’t understand.

The better organized you are, the easier this process will be. Taking ownership and responsibility of the process indicates that you are ready to tackle college independently.   If you need some experienced help in this process, contact Ravinia College Consultants.  We offer smaller hourly packages, as well as full comprehensive services.
