Winnetka Property Taxes to Rise, Stormwater Fee Introduced

Winnetka's $70 million budget for 2014 includes a stormwater utility fee starting in July

Winnetka residents will see a 1.7 percent property tax increase, along with a new stormwater utility starting in July, the Chicago Tribune reports.

A $70 million budget for 2014, voted in by Winnetka's Village Council, includes an extra, annual stormwater fee that could cost about $264 for the average Winnetka homeowner, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Winnetka Caucus recently voted in a $41 million stormwater management program, instead of forming an advisory referendum, that would measure local support for the plan, the Chicago Tribune previously reported.
