Winnetka Police Dept. Asks for $334,457

The Winnetka Village Trustees held their first meeting on the 2014 budget last week.

The Winnetka Village Council held their first hearing about the 2014 village budget on Oct. 10, according to Winnetka Talk. The new budget will begin on Jan 1, and will include a $14.22 million 2013 tax levy (which will mean a 1.7 percent increase for taxpayers), the article states. 

Police Chief Patrick Kreis and Fire Chief Alan Berkowsky also spoke at the hearing, where both asked for increases for their departments — the police are asking for an increase of $179, 457 (on top of $90,000 for three new cars, $30,000 for parking lot rehabilitation and $35,000 for equipment upgrades, while the fire department is asking for a 4.2 percent increase, according to the Winnetka Talk article.
