Winnetka Contemplates Stormwater Plan Contract

The village council will hold a special meeting tonight to consider hiring Baxter & Woodman for a $101,220 plan to improve storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems.

The will hold a special meeting this evening to consider awarding a more than $100,000 contract to develop a Storm Water Master Plan.

The pending decision comes after throughout the village in 2007, 2008 and 2011 and over the last year on the issue.   

Baxter and Woodman is the engineering firm recommended by the village manager’s office to create the plan.  They would charge $101,220 for their services and estimate the project will take 14 months to complete.

As part of their proposal, Baxter and Woodman will create a Stormwater Work Group and give regular updates and presentations to the village council.

They also plan to hold town hall meetings and utilize social media to keep residents abreast of the plan and its progress.

In addition to the villages of Kenilworth and Glenview, the firm has performed similar work throughout the north and northwest Chicago suburbs in recent years.

According to information on the village of Winnetka website, the FY 2012-2013 budget has $100,000 in the Storm Water Fund.

The special meeting will be held tonight at beginning at 7:30p.m.
