The Caucus' Village Candidate Committee said it chooses its candidates through an interview process and reviews the roles and responsibilities of village trustees with former trustee reports and material from the Illinois Municipal Officers' Association.

"Our process is not about where candidates stand on issues but on how they approach policy making, problem solving and their role and responsibilities as representatives of the community," read the Caucus press release. "We used an evidence-based decision making process to reach our final decision on candidates."

Proposed candidates plan to participate in a candidate forum Nov. 8 at 7:15 p.m. at Washburne School Little Theatre, according to the press release.

Caucus Platform Ready for Viewing

The second press statement included this year's 20-page outline of recommended village initiatives for the park district, village government, library district and school district. You can read the report in the media uploader.

The Caucus, which runs entirely on Winnetka resident volunteerism, uses its survey results to craft a yearly platform, or vision for the village. The full Caucus Council will vote on the platform on Oct. 27. All residents are invited to weigh in on the platform at the annual town meeting on Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Skokie School Auditorium.
