Weekend Weather Forecast for the North Shore

It looks like Old Man Winter will stick around for awhile. Now with a snow pack on the ground, temperatures will be colder during the next few days with highs in the 20s this weekend and lows in the teens. A fast moving clipper system looks like it will produce some light snow and flurries on Saturday with the brunt of the system passing to our south and southwest.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of light snow or flurries from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wind: West at 8-13 mph, becoming NW by 9 p.m.
Sunday: Partly sunny and quiet.

Monday: Increasing clouds with a 40 percent chance of showers from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., becoming mixed with snow and sleet from 10 p.m. and continuing into early Tuesday.

High temp: 37 degrees Fahrenheit
Wind: South to southwest at 10-18 with gusts to 25 mph
Your Week Ahead: Jan. 13 to Jan. 20
No significant storms are expected during this time with several smaller systems to keep an eye on. As we head into the second half of January, the pattern looks like it will turn more active over the center of the country with above average precipitation.

Weekend Pattern- A few weak disturbances passing through the northwest flow will bring an increased risk of light snow and flurries on Saturday followed by a quiet Sunday. At this time the best chance of accumulation will be over downstate Illinois where up to one inch may fall.
Early to Midweek Pattern- Sunday looks good with the next system moving in on Monday with showers developing in the afternoon. Toward the tail end of the system, rain may become mixed with some snow or sleet with a possible dusting by Tuesday morning. Quiet weather returns for Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday as high pressure builds in.
Late Week Pattern- The pattern will become active again with the potential of several clipper storms between Jan. 19 and Jan. 25 with another chance to put down a snow pack. The rain/snow line will be close, however, at this time it looks like the heaviest snow will stay to our north.
Temperatures: Temperatures will be quite cold in the next several days with highs near 20 today and in the mid 20s on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will moderate into the 30s on Monday and Tuesday with temperatures falling again by the middle of the week as the next surge of arctic moves in. Highs will likely be in the 20s with lows in the teens to finish out the week with some of the coldest air occurring between Jan. 17 and Jan. 21.
