UPDATE: Kates Withdraws State Supreme Court Appeal
Candidate Robert Kates withdrew his motion against Jennifer Spinney's candidacy because early and absentee voting has commenced.
Winnetka trustee hopeful Richard Kates withdrew his appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court Thursday to remove candidate Jennifer Spinney's name from the ballot. If the Court approved Kates' request, then absentee and early voters could suffer, according to Kates.
"Those [votes] would not count, in effect causing the loss of a voting right and I do not want that," Kates wrote in an email to Winnetka-Glencoe Patch.
