Flooded Basement? Get Rid of Debris Saturday During Northfield Clean-Up Day

The annual event is in Northfield this Saturday and the village is urging people to take advantage of it if you have items ruined by this week's flooding.

The following is from the Village of Northfield:

Last night the region was again hit hard by severe storms.

We want to remind residents that this Saturday, May 17th , is the annual clean-up day. Items including furniture, clothing, linens, bedding, old holiday decorations, storm damage material and the like can put to the curb for pick up by Waste Management. All material must be out by 7:00 am.

If you experienced any flooding, we urge you to take this opportunity to dispose of those items that may have been in basements.

Hazardous waste, construction debris, electronics, landscape or regular waste or "white goods" (appliances including stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.) will not be picked up. Those items can be disposed of by arranging a special pick up from Waste Management (1-800-796-9696) or disposed of at the Northfield Township Road District Recycling Event at the parking lot on Happ Road across from New Trier West High School on May 17th.
