John J. Cullerton has served the Illinois Senate for 20 years and co-chaired committees, was Democratic majority caucus whip and Senate President, and led the Senate during the impeachment trial and removal of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

During this time, Sen. Cullerton labored to change the political tone of Springfield by encouraging bipartisanship and cooperation among leaders.  In recent years, the General Assembly passed a major construction program, pension reforms, rewrite of the education laws, abolished the death penalty and approved civil unions.

New Trier Democrats have dedicated themselves since the 1960s to promoting government integrity and helping North Shore neighbors become involved in the political process.  Strong grassroots volunteerism helps it thrive.  NTDO is based at 800 Oak Street, Winnetka, 847-446-8030, www.ntdo.org.  New Trier Democrats are participating in the month-long "Winnetka is Neighborly" food drive and hopes everyone attending the Forum will bring non-perishable food.                                             ###

Cullerton is not responsible for the activities of New Trier Democrats.  A copy of our report, filed with the State Board of Elections, is available from the State Board of Elections in Springfield, Illinois
