Winnetka Police Blotter: Two Men Arrested Driving Under the Influence

A summary of incidents on August 9 and 10.

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

August 10

Traffic arrest – A 17-year-old male from Morton Grove was arrested at 1:58 a.m. on the 500 block of Hibbard for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper lane usage and failure to stop at a crosswalk. The driver violated the Illinois graduated driver’s license restrictions by driving past 11 p.m. His court date is scheduled for Sept. 21.

James Westhoff, 20, of Winnetka, was arrested at 11:58 p.m. on the 1000 block of Sheridan Road for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper lane usage. His court date is scheduled for Sept. 14.

August 9

Criminal damage – A passerby observed a parked vehicle with a rear broken window on the 100 block of Woodland Avenue. The officer arrived and located the victim, who stated that nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. This occurred sometime between 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Identity theft – A man discovered an unauthorized charge of $1246.30 on his Chase Bank credit card. This occurred sometime between May 21 and June 20.

Theft – A man discovered his unsecured bicycle missing from his front yard on the 900 block of Sunset Road. The theft occurred sometime between Aug. 1 and 2. The bicycle is described as a ladies’ green Schwinn, 27inch, 10-speed bicycle with a basket bracket and a broken seat. The amount of loss is estimated at $150.
