Winnetka Police Blotter: Two Burglaries Reported Without Stolen Property

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Last week:

Nov. 27

Burglary - Officers were dispatched to respond to a burglar alarm at a residence on the 500 block of Elm Street. Upon arriving, officers discovered a damaged door open. The glass window to the door was shattered. Several drawers were found rummaged through in the home. However, no property is reported missing at this time.

Officers were dispatched to respond to a burglar alarm at a residence on the 200 block of Winnetka Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the front door of the residence forced open by an unknown offender. Several drawers in different rooms were rummaged through and money was removed from one of the drawers. No other property is reported to be missing at this time.

Nov. 24

Criminal damage - An officer discovered that green spray paint was used to deface the west wall of the Indian Hill stairwell at 100 Northwestern Drive. Public works was notified for removal. 

Nov. 23

Burglary - The complainant discovered a rear door of a home on the 00 block of Essex was forcibly damaged. The damage occurred sometime between 12 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Officers checked the interior of the home and discovered an open dresser drawer in an upstairs bedroom. The drawer contained miscellaneous jewelry; however, at this time it is unknown if any property was removed. Nothing else in the home appeared disturbed. 

Nov. 21

Identity theft - A man discovered that an unknown offender made unauthorized charges to his debit card. These charges were made between Oct. 13 and Oct. 17 and amounted to $756.45. During the same time frame, an unknown offender attempted to open up an additional credit card using his spouse’s information.
