Winnetka Police Blotter: Trespasser in Winnetka Public Library
A summary of incidents from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29.
The provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
October 29
Traffic arrest – A 36-year-old man from Evanston was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license. He was also cited for speeding. This arrest was made subsequent to a traffic stop on the 500 block of Elm Street. His court date is scheduled for Dec. 9.

October 28
Motor vehicle burglary – An officer discovered a broken passenger front window on a vehicle in the parking lot at 530 Hibbard Road. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and responded to the scene. A brown cloth purse that contained her driver’s license and multiple credit cards was removed from the passenger side floor. The incident occurred some time before 1:45 p.m.

October 27
Theft – A man discovered his unattended backpack was taken from a bench while he left the area on the 100 block of Northwestern Drive. This occurred between 3:25 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. The backpack contained a gray Apple MacBook Pro laptop, a gray T-Inspire calculator and a black Ogio backpack.
Criminal trespass – An employee of the Winnetka branch of the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library stated there was an unwanted subject on the premises at 1:49 p.m. The offender left the premises prior to arrival of the officers. An investigation is in progress.
