Winnetka Police Blotter: Theft, Criminal Damage and Disobedient Drivers

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Last Week:

Jan. 4

Suspended license: A 22-year-old Winnetka woman was arrested just before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Cherry and Maple streets for speeding and driving with a suspended license. Her court date is Feb. 27.

Driving on the sidewalk: A 60-year-old Winnetka woman was cited for a bevy of violations around 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Gordon Terrace after someone reported a driving complaint to the police department. Police cited her for driving with a suspended license, driving on the sidewalk, and driving  without insurance. Her court date is Feb. 16.

Theft: A 47-year-old La Grange man was arrested for an alleged theft that occurred on Aug. 9, 2011 in the 1200 block of Forest Glen Drive. La Grange police picked him up just before 11 a.m., and he was transferred to Winnetka, where he appeared in bond court on Jan. 6.

Suspended license: Police arrested a 22-year-old Evanston woman for driving with a suspended license after they stopped her for speeding at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Spruce Street at 7:30 p.m. Her court date is Feb. 8.

Theft: Sometime between Dec. 5 and Dec. 26, 2011, an unknown perpetrator stole jewelry (a pair of diamond and ruby earrings, and a diamond and amethyst ring) from a home in the 1000 block of Westmoor Road. The estimated value of the jewelry was $550.

Jan. 7

Suspended license: Police arrested a 30-year-old Waukegan man just before 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Tower Road and Burr Avenue for driving with a suspended license. They initially stopped him for having a burnt-out tail light, for which he was also cited. His court date is Feb. 27.

Theft: Overnight, someone stole a substantial section of copper supply gutter from the backyard of a home in the 300 block of Elder Lane. The estimated value was $5,000.

Criminal damage: A resident alerted police that the doors of a storage shed in Corwin Park were open around 8:30 a.m. When the officer arrived, he found that someone or something had damaged the door frame. Nothing appeared to be missing from inside.
