Winnetka Police Blotter: Stolen Bicycle; 2 DUI Arrests
A summary of incidents reported from Sept. 3-4.
The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sept. 4
Traffic arrest – Thomas S. Shaffer, 24, of Winnetka, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. His arrest occurred after a traffic crash investigation in the 300 block of Sheridan Road. His court date is scheduled for Oct. 19.

Sandra Contreras, 25, of Northfield, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also cited for improper lane usage and driving with an expired license. Police stopped her vehicle near the intersection of Tower and Hibbard roads. Her court date is scheduled for Sept. 21.

Sept. 3
Theft – An unsecured bicycle was found missing from the front door area of a residence in the 1000 block of Dinsmore Road. According to the report, the theft occurred overnight between Sept. 2 and Sept. 3. The bike, a purple girl’s Trek 820 with green hockey tape on the kickstand, was valued at $250.
