Winnetka Police Blotter: Man Arrested on In-State Warrant

A summary of incidents reported from Aug. 29-30.

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 31

Commercial burglary – A business owner discovered his restaurant in the 500 block of Chestnut Street was burglarized overnight. A black and red Toshiba laptop was removed from a secured office. The amount of loss was estimated at $1,200.

Motor vehicle burglary – A woman found the front passenger side window of her vehicle was shattered by a rock overnight between Aug. 30 and Aug. 31. The car was parked in the 800 block of Spruce Street when the theft of a silver handbag containing a Nikon digital camera and a green Apple iPod Nano occurred. The amount of loss was estimated at $350.

Traffic arrest – Diana M. Garcia, 35, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was also cited for driving while texting and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police stopped her vehicle in the 700 block of Sheridan Road. Her court date is scheduled for Sept. 21.

Aug. 29

In assisting another law enforcement agency, Evan J. Kiesler, 45, of Winnetka, was arrested on an in-state warrant that involved a suspended driver’s license case. An officer in the 700 block of Elm Street recognized Kiesler as a wanted person and took him into custody. His court date is scheduled for Sept. 19.
