Winnetka Police Blotter: DUI, Identity Theft, Stolen Briefcase and Cell Phone

Dec. 6
DUI - A 24-year-old Evanston woman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at the corner of Hill Road and Ridge Avenue at 12:10 a.m. also cited her for improper lane usage and for driving on a sidewalk. The charge followed an accident investigation into a damaged tree and a street sign. Her court date is Dec. 28.

DUI - A 54-year-old man from Winnetka was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 12:18 a.m. on 700 Hill Rd. The charge came after the driver did not follow a police officer's verbal commands and hand signals to stop the car. The officer was trying to protect the scene of a traffic accident that had just happened. His court date is Jan. 13, 2012.

Dec. 8
Identity theft - A victim on the 1100 block of Hamptondale Ave. reported unauthorized purchases with her American Express credit card number between Nov. 12 and Dec. 7. The victim reports a loss of $220.22.
Dec. 9
Theft - A victim reported that his briefcase, left by his car, had been taken on the 700 block of Elm Street sometime between Dec. 7 at 10:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 8:55 a.m. Contents included a black Apple iPad with a black leather cover, a 13-inch Apple Macbook Air laptop in a maroon case, a black iPod and a blue pair of Logitech earphones. The victim reports a loss of $3,410.
Dec. 10
Theft - A victim reported a missing cell phone from his coat pocket at 12 p.m. at 858 Green Bay Rd. He believes someone took the black, T959 Vibrant phone while he was inside McDonald's at 8 a.m. The victim reported a loss of $500.
