Winnetka Police Blotter: DUI Arrests; Graffiti on Business

A summary of incidents reported from Aug. 15-19.

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 19

Traffic arrest – Jonathan C. Michals, 22, of Chicago, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for speeding and for disobeying a stop sign. Police stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Eldorado and Green Bay roads. His court date is Sept. 14.

Aug. 18

Traffic arrest – Alberto Julio Sumba, 30, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving without a valid driver’s license. He was also cited for having an unsafe tire and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police pulled over his vehicle at the intersection of Cedar Street and Willow Road. His court date is Sept. 21.

Calvin M Olszak, 20, of Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for disobeying a red light, improper lane usage and improper turning. His vehicle was pulled over by police at the intersection of Ash Street and Green Bay Road. His court date is Sept. 14.

Aug. 15 

Criminal damage – An employee discovered letters and symbols spray painted on the windows and walls on the west side of the business at 858 Green Bay Rd. The vandalism occurred sometime overnight. Repair costs were estimated at $299.
