Winnetka Police Blotter: Chanel Wallet, Two Bikes Worth $1,360 Stolen

Bike theft

Two unsecured men’s bikes were stolen from the upper lot at 799 Sheridan Road on Aug. 2. The loss is estimated at $1,360 total. 

Chanel wallet stolen

A storeowner at 899 Green Bay Road reported that her black Chanel wallet, sunglasses $500 cash and various credit cards were stolen from her unsecured purse on Aug. 3. Unauthorized charges were made on her credit cards a short time later. The loss is estimated at $3,500. 

Broken glass door

A glass door panel was broken using a metal ash can at 1255 Willow Road on Aug. 2. Police say entry does not appear to have been made. The damage is estimated to cost $600. 

Driving under the influence of alcohol

Elizabeth E. Downs, 65, of 1328 Sherwin, Chicago, was arrested Aug. 3 for driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for speeding and driving with only one tail light following a traffic stop at 100 Green Bay Road. She was issued a Sept. 11 court date. 

Criminal trespassing

Kautasha L. Metcalf, 32, of 10100 Emerald St., Chicago, was arrested Aug. 1 for criminal trespass. The arrest was the result of an investigation regarding an unruly passenger on the train causing a disturbance, police said. Metcalf was issued a Sept. 4 court date. 

Driving violations

Erin R. Etzler, 26, of 1094 Fisher Ln., Winnetka, was arrested Aug. 4 for driving with a suspended driver’s license and cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a traffic stop at Green Bay Road and Tower Road. She was issued a Sept. 20 court date. 

Warrant arrest

Edward L. Porter, 43, of 653 Central, Chicago, was arrested Aug. 5 out of a warrant from DuPage County. Police say they arrested Porter during an investigation of a traffic impediment. 

Harassing phone calls

A resident in the 400 block of Elder reported receiving harassing phone calls, texts and emails between July 13 and Aug. 2. Police say the investigation is pending.
