Winnetka Police Blotter: $5,500 Cost of Damage at North Shore Country Day School

A summary of incidents reported from Aug. 1 - Aug. 3.

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Aug. 1

Traffic Arrest - A Chicago man was charged with driving without a valid driver's license and without operational tail lights at the 900 block of Green Bay Road.

Identity Theft - A Winnetka resident filed a report that unknown individual(s) were able to access the victim's bank account without permission and cash two fraudulent checks sometime before July 18 and July 28. The estimated loss is $4,600.

Criminal Damage - A Winnetka resident on the 500 block of Cherry Street reported damage to the resident's fence and plants sometime during the night. The estimated loss is between $500 and $1,000.

Criminal Damage - A Winnetka resident on the 400 block of Walnut Street reported damage to the resident's fence sometime during the night. The estimated loss is $500.

Theft - A victim reported a stolen purse after she left it inside a retail story on the 700 block of Elm Street about 1:30 p.m. The purse include a wallet, cash and an Apple iPod Touch. The estimated loss is $298.

Theft - A victim reported a stolen bicycle on the 700 block of Walden Road. The Avigo Coral Mist, girl's 1-speed, purple bike had been in the front yard without a lock. The estimated loss is $85.

Aug. 3

Traffic Arrest - A Glencoe resident was arrested for aggravated fleeing and attempt to elude a police officer. The arrest came after a Winnetka officer tried to make a traffic stop. Glenview police later tracked him down and turned the resident over to Winnetka police. The resident is also cited for speeding and improper lane usage.

Criminal Damage - An employee at North Shore Country Day School, 310 Green Bay Rd., reported damage to windows, doors and bricks on the building, as well as damage to an Ezgo shuttle golf cart, sometime between Aug. 2 at 3:30 p.m. and Aug. 3 at 6 a.m. The estimated loss is $5,500.
